JoBeth Allen
Co-FOunder, Co-Director
JoBeth taught at UGA for 28 years in Language and Literacy Education where she collaborated with teachers in local schools to create and study culturally sustaining social justice practices, including family-school partnerships. When the Board of Regents passed its discriminatory policies, she began working with teachers and students to advocate for the rights of un(der)documented students. The passion of local students, with the support and advocacy of their teachers, created every aspect of U-Lead, from the name to the focus on college access. JoBeth loves creating a welcoming and nurturing space for students, parents, and volunteers, and enjoys engaging community members in donating to our scholarship fund.
